Day 64

by joeandbetsy

The sun has made its glorious return to Pittsburgh and with it comes lots of melting. We were sitting in our living room this afternoon when we heard a loud crash. We looked out our window and saw a mass of cables being yanked down by falling ice chunks.

We went outside later and observed the damage. Woops!

Luckily those cables didn’t seem to be linked to anything in our apartment as we didn’t lose any power or tv channels.

We left the house to do our groceries but other than that Joe’s been doing a lot of studying while I’ve been puttering around the house. He told me he was in the mood for a crafty activity so I started to do a little brainstorming. I’ve really enjoyed the crafts we’ve done lately that have used recycled materials so I was on the hunt for something like that. It didn’t take long for me to find it!

Paper Bag Booklet

I saw the idea on this blog and thought it could be fun. It only required four things: brown paper bags, scissors, colored pencils, and a glue stick.

The first step was to cut pieces of the bags into squares. I decided we’d make ours 10″ x 10″ because in the end (after folding) it’d turn out to be 5″ x 5″.

We cut 4 pieces and each took two. We didn’t really have a theme we just decided to do whatever we felt like.

We both got pretty in the zone with our coloring and found it to be quite relaxing.

When all the pages were done they got glued together to form our accordion/caterpillar style paper bag booklet.

The two I did are on the ends and Joe’s are in the middle. I was so happy to see some nice, bright colors!

It was a fun little project and like I’ve said lately, I love doing artsy things with Joe especially since he seems to really enjoy them.

Off to enjoy the last bits of the weekend, see you tomorrow!

That’s so cute! Love it! I’m fairly certain my husband and I would get bored of a project like that in like 10 minutes. Atleast we’re both alike in that lol…

This little nook of your apartment looks so cozy with the quilts and all. What a perfect activity for a Sunday afternoon. I probably would have liked this, too, faced with an interminable day of studying!
